In the vicinity of downtown Porto, with excellent accessibility conditions, the building benefits from the proximity of the Sarah Afonso garden, with which it is directly related.
All apartments are located on the second floor or above, allowing for the creation on the first floor of a qualified covered common entrance space of generous and ample dimensions, articulated with the landscaped surroundings.
The facade has a classic image with a square metric of balanced proportions, where the width and depth of the balconies stand out, conferring more three-dimensional volumetric richness to the whole. The windows were designed to achieve a perfect balance between visibility from the inside to the outside and privacy from the outside to the inside.
All the latest design standards and best practices were applied in the design of the building’s exterior envelope, namely regarding solar orientation, shading of glazed areas, continuous thermal insulation throughout the building’s exterior envelope, and acoustic comfort.
The typological arrangement of the apartments creates openings to the outside on facades with different solar orientations, favoring natural lighting and cross ventilation. The intelligent choice of entry points to the apartments allowed the amplification of the usable areas of each of the compartments by reducing circulation areas to the indispensable minimum. Especially benefited was the living room and kitchen area, in open space. This space opens generously, across the width, to a large outdoor covered veranda. Indoors and outdoors work in a truly complementary way, benefiting from Porto’s mild climate almost all year round.
